By March 24, 2014News

Dunedin has applied to join seven other cities around the world as one of the UNESCO international cities of literature. The list includes Edinburgh, Melbourne, Norwich, Dublin, Reykjavik, Krakow and Iowa City. Dunedin is one of several other centres making a bid for inclusion. Launched in 2004, the creative cities network was born out of UNESCO’s Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity which was created in 2002. The aim is to promote the social, economic and cultural development of cities in both the developed and the developing world.

Dunedin’s bid is outlined in this Radio New Zealand story from Morning Report – HTCT chairperson is interviewed for the story.: http://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/morningreport/audio/2590020/dunedin-bids-to-become-an-international-city-of-literature
